About SUSTaiN Project

About

“Young people should be at the forefront of global change and innovation. Empowered, they can be key agents for development and peace.”

Kofi Annan

The Paths to Peace Project is committed to equipping young people with the tools to promote peace through tourism, dialogue, and local action. Our mission is to empower the next generation of peacebuilders by combining practical training, mentorship, and community-based learning.

At Paths to Peace, we believe that youth have a vital role in shaping peaceful, inclusive societies. By connecting peacebuilding with responsible tourism and cultural exchange, our project helps young leaders develop the skills and confidence to turn local challenges into opportunities for understanding and cooperation.

Collaboration is at the heart of our approach. We bring together youth organisations, educators, tourism professionals, and civil society to share expertise, foster innovation, and support grassroots leadership. Through workshops, mentoring, and a final hackathon, we are building a Europe-wide network of Peace Building Advocates ready to make a difference.

Join us in building new paths to peace — powered by young people, shaped by communities, and strengthened through shared action. Explore how Paths to Peace is helping youth lead change from the ground up.

Tourism for Peace:
Unlocking Youth Potential in Divided Communities

The Paths to Peace project responds to an urgent need for inclusive, youth-led solutions in regions affected by conflict and division. While tourism holds powerful potential for promoting understanding and rebuilding communities, young people are rarely equipped or supported to lead these initiatives. Paths to Peace bridges this gap by combining peacebuilding, education, and tourism into one practical, action-focused approach. Through digital tools, cross-cultural collaboration, and real-world training, the project empowers youth to become active agents of peace, creating sustainable impact in their communities and beyond.

Who We Serve

Paths to Peace is designed to support and connect the people at the heart of peacebuilding through tourism. Our work focuses on three key groups:

We empower youth aged 18–30, especially those from conflict-affected or socially divided regions. Through training, mentorship, and real-world opportunities, they develop the skills and confidence to lead peacebuilding projects using tourism as a tool for positive change.

We provide youth professionals with practical resources and new methodologies to support young people in becoming active peacebuilders. Our tools help educators integrate conflict-sensitive tourism, leadership, and civic engagement into their work with diverse youth communities.

Our project brings together civil society organisations, tourism professionals, and local authorities to explore new ways of fostering peace through tourism. We offer opportunities to engage with youth-led initiatives, build partnerships, and shape inclusive, sustainable tourism practices.
