Welcome to THE

Paths to Peace Project

We support young people across Europe to use tourism as a powerful tool for peacebuilding and social change. Through practical training, mentoring, and digital tools, we help youth become leaders in conflict-sensitive tourism and intercultural understanding. Together, we’re building a future where travel connects communities, promotes dialogue, and supports lasting peace. Explore our site to discover how youth-led peacebuilding takes shape through tourism.

“Tourism is a powerful force for peace. It brings people closer and creates the conditions for mutual respect and understanding.”

Project Activities

1

Global Peace Perspectives – Youth Mapping the Future

This activity lays the groundwork for youth-led peacebuilding by identifying skills gaps, opportunities, and inspiring practices across Europe. Through surveys, interviews, and case studies, young people, educators, and tourism professionals help shape the Global Peace Perspectives Roadmap — a practical guide for using tourism as a tool for peace. The Roadmap empowers youth and educators with real-world insights, engagement strategies, and steps for action, ensuring peacebuilding is grounded in local context and lived experience.

2

Practical Paths to Peace – Workshop Training Series and Mentorship

The Green+Digital Bootcamps bring students, educators, and industry leaders together to solve real-world challenges. Through problem-based learning, participants explore cutting-edge technologies like 3D printing, VR, and blockchain while addressing sustainability goals. These interactive sessions enhance creativity and teamwork, preparing students and lecturers to lead the industry’s green/digital transformations. The Bootcamps create lasting connections between academia and industry.

3

Path to Peace Proposals and Hackathon

The final phase of the project channels youth energy into action. In teams, Peace Building Advocates co-develop 10 tourism-based peacebuilding proposals, supported by expert mentors. These proposals are presented at the Paths to Peace Hackathon, a high-profile event connecting youth with over 100 stakeholders from tourism, civil society, and peacebuilding. The event promotes youth-led solutions, sparks collaboration, and helps launch new initiatives that support social cohesion through tourism.
